Crochet Loft exists because most crochet patterns on the internet have never
been worked by anybody except the person who wrote them.
Loft is a fibre word before it is an architectural one. It is the air in a
yarn, the springiness that makes a skein bounce back when you squeeze it. That
is the thing this site cares about: what the yarn actually does in your hands.
What we publish
Three kinds of thing, and we try to be honest about which is which.
- Technique guides. One stitch or one skill, worked slowly,
including the mistakes that make it look wrong. These carry a named byline. - Pattern round-ups. Collections sorted by what you actually
have: an evening, a skill level, and some yarn already in the cupboard. - Buying guides. Hooks, yarn and kits. These carry affiliate
links and say so at the top, before the first link rather than after.
What we do not do
We do not publish a pattern we have not worked. Stitch counts either work or
they do not, and crocheters find out within days. One broken pattern costs more
trust than a hundred good ones earn.
We do not pad an article to hit a word count, and we do not write “simply” or
“just” in front of a step, because that is the fastest way to make a beginner
feel stupid about something that is genuinely fiddly.
